New Road
September 25, 2007 on 8:12 am | In Business Motivations | 6 CommentsTen years from now you will surely arrive. The question is, where? We don’t want to kid ourselves about where, and we don’t want to kid ourselves about the road we’re walking.
At age 23, I had a day called “do not kid myself anymore” day. I didn’t want to be disillusioned anymore. Up until then, I had been using the crossed-finger theory. Losing my job and having no money for rent I finally decided that the crossed-finger theory was not going to get me what I wanted. I was going to have to make sure which way I was headed.
With the help of home business, I found that when I exercised a few training disciplines, a few disciplines of my mind, and a few disciplines of activity, it can begin making all the difference in the world. This will affect where you will end up.
It takes a few changes. Sometimes we get the idea that we’re doing about 10% and there’s about 90% more that we need in order to make the difference for our fortune but the opposite is probably true. We’re doing enough things to have bought and shared in the good life so far. And maybe all we need is that extra 5% or 10% of intellectual change. Activity change. A refinement of discipline. A refinement of thought. All we need are the ideas to make those simple changes, and the equity starts gathering in one year, three years, five years, and ten years.
Now’s the time to fix the next 10 years. You may have to come to grips with reality and with truth. That’s what was good for me when I got started. I was 23 years old, and my trainers were more successful than me. They brought me a wealth of experience and started asking me the tough questions. Big question, “Are you focusing on the training that is going to take you where you want to go in the next 5 years?”
Excellent question. To get to where you want to be in the next 5 years, you are either focusing on the right training or you’re not. You’re either engaged in the disciplines or you’re not. But, here’s what we don’t want to engage in: disillusion. Hoping without acting. Wishing without doing.
The key is to take a look and say, “Where am I? What could I do to make the changes to make sure that I can take more daily steps toward the treasure I want, the mental treasure, the personal treasure, the spiritual treasure, the financial treasure? I don’t want to make any more errors, now’s the time to adjust my daily program to take me where I want to go.”
In teaching and leading for the last 14 years, I’ve gotten letters and personal testimonies of people that have done such remarkable things with just a few suggestions. And that is why online trainings, training videos, coaching websites can be so valuable. Here’s a key idea for us all to remember: We could all use a little coaching. When you’re playing the game, it’s sometimes hard to see it all.
But the key is to start right now, making the changes to walk this new road. And here’s what’s exciting to me. Just a few daily disciplines makes a great deal of difference in one year, three years, and five years. And before you know it, you will be walking a brand new road.
Long Term
September 20, 2007 on 9:39 am | In Business Motivations | 5 CommentsWhen you’re on the river of life, it’s likely you are going to hit a few rocks. However instead of beating yourself up for being such a failure, remember there are no failures in life. Instead, learn and grow from the experience. Use whatever life gives you in the moment to improve.
In order to succeed, you must have a long-term focus. Most of our problems like overeating, drinking, smoking, feeling overwhelmed and giving up on our dreams come from a short term focus. Success and failure are not overnight experiences. It is all the small decisions along the way that cause people to fail. It’s the failure to follow-up, failure to take action, to persist, and to manage our mental and emotional states. Failure to control what we focus on.
Success is the result of making small decisions. Decide to hold yourself to a higher standard, and to contribute. Decide to feed your mind rather than allow the environment to control you.
What Will Keep You Charging In Your Home Business When You Have A Bad Day?
September 6, 2007 on 9:42 am | In Business Motivations | 5 CommentsThink about it. People in traditional businesses have two primary advantages over affiliates:
1. They have a lot of money invested therefore, when they have a bad day they are not likely to throw in the towel and quit. Sure they may think about it, but they will also think about the mortgage they have on their home, and the money they borrowed from friends and family members. This usually will keep them in their business even when someone returns the only product that they sold for the day or when they have to use their Visa to pay off their MasterCard.
2. They don’t have a job. That’s right, people who own their own traditional business usually don’t have a job to fall back on. They usually don’t say, “Well, I’m sick and tired of this stuff. I’m glad I got a job that is paying me $1,000 per week to fall back on.” Instead, they are out on a limb in an effort to make it happen. They know that on that limb is where the fruit is.
So what about you? You probably invested in OurGV less than it would cost for a week of rent in a restaurant with no food to get started. And you probably still have a job, right? And if you don’t have a job, most of your affiliates do, right? So what leverage can you have to help keep you charging full steam ahead when it seems like everything is going wrong?
Your Dream! That’s right, if your dream is big enough then the fear, rejection, embarrassment, and lack of home business know-how will not stop you. Instead, you will be empowered to keep charging ahead in the jungle so you can make it to the land of paradise. So find out what your dream is and keep it in front of you when the going gets tough. You can use this technique to help keep your affiliates going too. When you’re sitting on the beaches of the world… You’ll be glad you did.
