A to B….Two Types
June 30, 2008 on 7:40 pm | In Business Motivations | 6 CommentsEveryone has a dream. Sometimes that dream has to be dusted off and remembered, but it is there. In every dream we don’t start at the end result but where we are now. In this case, point A is desiring a move towards point B. In home business there will be big dreams accomplished from the success in this industry. People able to travel the world, earn from home, volunteer, take care of their family, create wealth, give to causes, etc. All of these can be obtained by being very productive and getting to our point B. This journey will take 2 different routes depending on the personality type of the person involved. One person will take an incrementalist approach, meaning they will need to keep their job and slowly work towards point B and going full-time. These little changes will happen for them as they work step by step forward. The other person will take more of an “all out” perspective. They need to go fast and all the way, in order to commit themselves and push themselves to the goals they need to accomplish. They need the risk otherwise they are not going to make it to point B.
The key is recognizing which type you are and the people you are working with, to be able to help them in whichever manner they need.
Leadership Lessons
June 28, 2008 on 4:41 pm | In Business Motivations | 6 CommentsGood leadership begins with wisdom and insight.
Competency never compesates for character.
Leadership development begins with “being” before “doing.”
Leaders who solve problems will never lack followers.
Wisdom is available to leaders who pursue it diligently, but it does not happen automatically.
Laziness can steal everything a leader has worked to achieve.
10 Reasons Goals Fail
June 22, 2008 on 4:22 pm | In Business Motivations | 9 Comments1. Not having a goal. We encourage you to complete your goals and submit them. It’s not magical, but has practical applications in terms of remembering and working towards your desires. It has been said you have 1000% better chance of them coming true if you do this.
2. Don’t limit yourself. Most people over-estimate where they will be in one year but far under-estimate where they will be in 10.
3. Have a worthwhile goal. Make an impact.
4. Let others know what your goals are. It provides accountability for you and helps them in their own lives.
5. People have a lack of focus. Many are jack of all trades and master of none. We will have to pay the price in full and up front for these goals to be accomplished. These goals will call for action and we need to be able to work towards higher levels of action as part of our process. Even if you start with 1 hour a week, work at it diligently as you increase your time. Some of these goals will take time. Did you take time to get to this point in your life?
6. Work on the heart. You are the type of person who deserves these things. When you change your thoughts about who you are and what you deserve, you will have an easier time changing your actions. It works the other way around too. When you change your actions, you will start to change your belief system about what you can do.
7. Attitude. Know you can do it, others have done it. I will start moving forward. Have optimism. You can choose how to see yourself in a better way. People want to follow someone who has a better view of the future.
8. Procrastination. Even successful people struggle with putting things off. We all do it, strive to do it less. There are two pains: the pain of discipline, or the pain of regret. Learn to take action immediately.
9. People quit to soon. How many things never happen because people quit. All of the successful people have had to persist far far longer than they wanted to. How would you get away without it? You will see tough times, but haven’t you already. Stay glued to information that can help you forge ahead.
10. Failure to measure. Many times we don’t have trackable steps. We need to get our numbers tracked and work them higher as we improve.
Gardening
June 16, 2008 on 9:46 pm | In Business Motivations | 7 CommentsYou will never have a perfect garden. Everytime you get it looking good, something is going to happen that needs your attention. It will be the same way in your business. Pull the weeds, make sure to give the plants the nourishment they need, and be patient. It will grow the more you grow. The more you work on making your business and your life beautiful, the more others will benefit from it’s beauty. They will take away images that are important to them and it will remind them of who they really are, of their dreams, and their ambitions. Your life and discipline will show them the way to achieve them. You will then have the ability to give your flowers away to benefit others, and your plants will continue to flourish and produce more and more. The scent will always be left on the hand that gave the beautiful flowers.
You Are A Beautiful Gem!
June 9, 2008 on 12:00 am | In Business Motivations | 7 CommentsThe first trait of winners is belief in their dreams. Performance is not a measure of value; it’s a reflection of it. You perform up to the expectation that you and significant others have of you in advance. So the expectation equals motivation. And motivation is an inner force that compels behavior.
The most important belief you will ever have is about your potential. Why would you be motivated to learn if you didn’t think you were worth the effort? You must look at yourself as an uncut gemstone of potential—a diamond in the making that only needs to be cut and polished with experience, skills and knowledge.
Belief is the single most important thing. I believe I can do something more than I am doing, and I won’t let anything stop me. You project on the outside what you feel on the inside. The most important opinion you will ever have is the one in your head. That makes you your greatest coach.
Light It Up
June 3, 2008 on 5:49 pm | In Business Motivations | 10 CommentsMany of the negative people in our lives will not change. They’ve gotten stuck in that negative rut that holds so many people back. To be able to maintain your confidence, try and combat those negative thoughts with positive material. Look at those negatives and search for the positives that could be gained. “It is so hot” to “Isn’t the sun beautiful and powerful”. Many of us can change these things around if we focus on our perspective of these things and get in the habit of doing it.
We often want to get patted on the back and to have some external approval. Guess what? You are approved. You are good. You can’t live off of others approval, but you can live off of yours. Once you create a winner attitude with yourself, then you will be able to help others win. Many times if we focus on creating other winners and affirming others, then we will realize how truly great we are. It’s like a candle, you will not lose anything by lighting up another.
I Will Act Now
June 1, 2008 on 4:08 pm | In Business Motivations | 8 CommentsI will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have. Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. I am not lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now. Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place. I am the person.
