Look Up

Look up from what you’re doing and look around for a minute.  See what a beautiful world you’re in. Take your mind off the problems for a moment and focus on the positive possibilities.  Consider how much you are able to do. Turn your attention for a while away from the worries and anxieties, and remind yourself of all your many blessings.

The direction of your focus is the direction your life will move.  Let yourself move toward what is good, valuable, strong and true.

The things that fill your awareness are the things that will fill your life and your world. So expand your awareness beyond your own concerns and toward the best of what can be.

Look up and look confidently toward the highest vision you can imagine. The moment you do, you’re on your way there.

Rise Up

Compared to most endeavors, controlling yourself is relatively simple and easy.  When you’re able to control your own thoughts, words and actions, there is no limit to what you can accomplish.

To control yourself requires no other person’s permission, cooperation or assistance. To control yourself requires no special knowledge, skill or equipment.

What it does require is a compelling reason. When the reason why is meaningful enough, you will have no trouble finding the will and the means to control your own life.

That’s why it is so important to have a clear sense of where you intend to go and why. Connecting with your purpose will keep you in control, and staying in control will carry you to achievement.

There is a purpose within you that is stronger than the temptations and distractions. There is a solid, meaningful reason that will compel you to carefully and effectively control all that you do.

The more fully you know and express that purpose, the more surely and reliably you’ll be in control.  The more completely you exercise control over yourself, the higher your life will rise.

Make Difficulties Less Difficult

Many obstacles don’t even need to be there. They can disappear as soon as you turn your attention toward something more positive.

Some of the difficult problems you face are mostly from your own creation. Just as you created them, you can let them go and they are gone.

Certainly there are very real difficulties that you must address in the course of your life and your work. Yet many of the burdens under which you labor have been built up over time by your own thoughts and habits.

What seems to be a big problem may actually be a very small and easily resolved issue that your mind has made into a monster. Stop focusing on how bad it is and start focusing on something positive that you can do in response.

That can quickly cut it down to a manageable size, or even eliminate the problem altogether. Once you break the negative momentum that your mind has established, things will soon look a whole lot better.

It’s important to effectively address the challenges that come along, yet there is no need to blow them out of proportion. Keep your focus on the good you can do, on the value you can create, and most of the difficulties will be far less difficult.
